Let's face it. Even the most devoted pacifist has wanted to scream like a banshee and/or slap someone upside the head at least once in his or her life. Here are some examples of what not to do as a healthcare professional … • "Pled guilty to Felonious
Assault. Impaired while providing care for a home
health care patient." Decision on license:
Automatic suspension. (Sounds odd … sort of
like the minute they assaulted the person, the license
self-destructed.) • "Failure to practice
safe nursing care in the use of a Hydrocollator pad
and verbal abuse of a patient. Pre-signed medication
and treatment records." Decision on license:
Pending. (I guess it depends on how toasted the patient
was by the Hydrocollator pad.) • "Boundaries violation
with a male patient by engaging in sexual conversations
and verbal abuse to a patient." (Is this some sort
of dominatrix thing?) Decision on license:
Pending. • "Poor performance while
employed … including yelling at a patient
and withholding a bedpan from a resident." (Now that
is cruel!) Decision on license:
stayed suspension (that's all?!) • "Failure to practice
safe nursing by striking a patient in the face in
response to the patient spitting on the nurse." (Well
… no, the licensee shouldn't have struck the
patient, but …) Decision on license:
Pending. • "Convicted of Felony
Patient Abuse. Engaged in an altercation with a patient.
Patient suffered a fractured nose." (Now that sounds
like quite a story. I would really like more details
about this one.) Decision on license:
Automatic suspension/action pending. (Isn't that
an oxymoron?)
