Dr. Mark Wolpa, podiatrist, Atlanta,
Georgia. ![]()
In 1984, podiatrist Dr. Mark Wolpa, had the idea of creating a life size chocolate foot to send as a holiday gift to referring doctors and patients. Wolpa began by selling to other podiatrists, but as the chocolate's popularity grew, he heard from non-medical people who were looking for something creative. Nineteen years later, Toe-Food Chocolates and Candy is a profitable company. The chocolate foot was just the beginning of the sugar rush. Wanting something to appeal to the masses, Wolpa came up with the idea of a gummy foot, called Stinky Feet, which had a special appeal to kids. Stinky Feet too tame for your tastes? Wolpa now offers Hot Stinky Feet. Wolpa continues to create new products: chocolate athletic shoes; "Valentoes" chocolate feet; "Chateau La Foot" solid chocolate champagne bottles; foot suckers and brain suckers. There are now at least 15 other trademarked names that are awaiting introduction to the market place. For more information, see www.toefood.com. Discuss This ArticleHave something you'd like to say?
