Bullies are a pain, and for some reason I get a lot of them. I am, in my own mind at least, the nicest, sweetest, most professional person to walk the planet. But I can't get a delivery of an out of stock medication at 3:00am, and I can't call somebody from the insurance company to go into the office and OK your prescription, and frankly, I am not afraid of the store manager either. (Maybe this only applies to the job market today, but it's in my favor and I would rather keep my license than anybody's goodwill.) In spite of which, one woman turned up with a prescription for a drug that was out of stock, and when I explained that I couldn't fill it, she said, "You'd better have it!" It wasn't clear what the penalty would be. I'll admit to having been a lot more intimidated by a man who was upset because I couldn't transfer his girlfriend's prescription from another store while the computers were doing their nightly back-up – but at least he had the decency to storm out without breaking my nose. Be thankful for small favors.
