Abilene, Texas

Abilene is located in central Texas, 150 miles (241 kilometers) west of Fort Worth. It is the county seat of Taylor County, and has a population of 115,930.

Abilene is home to a host of historic attractions. Newcomers can participate in a historic downtown walking tour or the Frontier Heritage Tour. Frontier Texas! presents the story of the region from 1780-1880, and uses multimedia technology to bring episodes like a wolf attack, a buffalo stampede, and a saloon shootout vividly to life.
