Arlington, Texas

Located between Fort Worth and Dallas, Arlington has a lot to offer on its own as well as access to the cosmopolitan amenities of the other two cities. Although the city itself has 332,969 residents, the larger metroplex encompasses 5,161,544.

Arlington began as a market town, which linked surrounding farms to the Pacific Railway. Farmers were attracted to the city's dark, fertile soil – ideal for growing fruit and vegetables – and abundant water supply from the Trinity River and its tributaries. Arlington's community became active in growing cotton, hay, oats, corn, peanuts, potatoes, and other crops. Now the city is better known for being home to the largest theme park in the southwest – Six Flags Over Texas.

So what can you do in Arlington? If you're a lover of country tunes, Johnnie High Country Music Revue may be ongoing entertainment for you. Voted the best live country music show for five years in a row by the Country Music Organizations of America, the show features singers, dancers, and musicians. Other fun places to see around town include The Palace of Wax & Ripley's Believe It or Not! – displays which are under one roof and offer a fun array of curiosities and life-like sculptures. For shoppers, there is the Traders Village (an outdoor marketplace) and the Festival Marketplace Mall, which also offers free entertainment. Or, for some fast-paced excitement, go to see the horse races at the Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.

For those who are athletically inclined, there are several golf courses, tennis courts, and parks where you can spend time in the warm outdoors. Speaking of warm, if you are tired of dreary winters and being cooped up indoors, rest assured the weather in Arlington is pleasant throughout the winter months and nice and hot in the summers.

For cultured types, Arlington offers various art galleries, including the Arlington Museum of Art, theatre productions, music festivals, children's productions, and museums. Meanwhile sports fans can cheer for the Texas Rangers at The Ballpark stadium. And for those who like to eat out, Arlington is a great place to get a big steak or to sample the robust flavors of BBQ or Mexican.

And if you like to travel, the Dallas/Fort Worth airport is five miles north of Arlington – giving you easy access to the rest of the country and the world.

For three times the attractions and amenities, Arlington is a great place to relocate.
