Auburn, Washington

The city of Auburn is located in western Washington, 14 miles (23 kilometers) northeast of Tacoma and 23 miles (37 kilometers) south of Seattle. It is part of King County, and is home to 40,314 residents.

The community was founded as "Hardenburg's Corners" in 1793, and later renamed after Auburn, New York. To brush up on local history, visit the White River Valley Museum, which has fascinating exhibits on the history of Northwest Indian culture, Puget Sound, the Northern Pacific Railroad, and the lives of Japanese-Americans. The museum also offers tours of Main Street and other heritage sites throughout Auburn.

Auburn is home to a lively arts and culture scene, with concerts from the Auburn Symphony Orchestra, plays and musicals from the Auburn Avenue Theatre, and beautiful artworks in downtown streets and local parks.
