Austell, Georgia

Austell is located in Cobb County, Georgia, approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) southwest of Marietta and 18 miles (29 kilometers) west of downtown Atlanta. It was established in an area of salt springs, and in its early years, attracted visitors for its healing waters.

There is a lot for you to do in Austell and its surrounding county. The county has more than 100 park sites, comprising more than 3,700 acres (1,497 hectares). And this being Georgia, you're never far from a golf course – or several! When your feet start to itch, you can hike the Silver Comet Trail, which runs from Smyrna, about 11 miles (18 kilometers) north of Austell, through Paulding and Polk counties to the Alabama border. You can also head out to nearby sites like Sweetwater Creek State Park, Sun Valley Beach, or the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

And if you have kids, they may already know that Austell is home to Six Flags Over Georgia, while Six Flags White Water - Atlanta and American Adventures are located only a short drive north in Marietta.

Nearby Marietta can also give you a dose of symphony, ballet, or theater, as can Atlanta.
