The town of Balcarres is located roughly halfway between Regina and Yorkton in east central Saskatchewan, at the edge of the scenic Qu'Appelle Valley region. Balcarres can trace its roots back to the 1870s, although development of the town took off with the creation of a Canadian Pacific Railway stop in the community in 1903. The town offers residents pleasant, tree-lined streets, and a range of community services, in addition to schooling from kindergarten through to high school. A curling rink and a skating rink are among the recreational facilities in Balcarres, and nearby parks include the Katepwa Point and Echo Valley provincial parks.
