Berwyn, Illinois

The city of Berwyn is located in northeastern Illinois, just nine miles (14 kilometers) southwest of Chicago. It is part of Cook County, and is home to 54,016 people.

Berwyn contains a large number of beautiful historic homes, including "Chicago Style" brick bungalows, Victorian homes, and Tudor houses. The annual Berwyn Bungalow Tour in June gives you a chance to step into the city's finest homes.

The Berwyn Arts Council cultural hub of the community, and offers exhibits, concerts, classes, and performances for all ages. You'll also find rock, jazz, classical, and world music at local venues.

Berwyn has one of the finest park systems in the area. The Berwyn Park District offers eight parks, while the North Berwyn Park District offers four parks, a sports field, and a gymnasium. Other facilities include the PAV YMCA, the Community Center, and the Berwyn Skate Park.

Car culture rules in Berwyn, and past and future of automobiles is celebrated during the Route 66 Car Show, Cartopia, and biweekly Cruise Nights that take place throughout the summer. October's Houby Festival and Parade is another unique event, and celebrates Czech culture, drink, and the mushrooms that play a large role in Czech cuisine.
