Beverly Hills is located in southern California, just 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of downtown Los Angeles. It is part of Los Angeles County, and is home to 33,784 residents.

Best known as the playground of the stars, Beverly Hills is world-famous for its luxury hotels, up-scale boutiques, and fine restaurants. Many of the city's landmarks have been immortalized by movies and TV, including the 90s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210. The "Golden Triangle" between Wilshire and Sunset Boulevards encompasses seven streets of dazzling shops and restaurants, including the famous Rodeo Drive shopping avenue. Also be sure to visit the Greystone Mansion and Park and the Beverly Hills Civic Center. Of course, no visit is complete without a ride aboard the Beverly Hills Trolley, where you can pick up some fascinating historical tidbits and catch tantalizing glimpse of celebrity homes.

Not surprisingly, Beverly Hills' chief points of interest revolve around the entertainment industry. The city is home to The Paley Center for Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio) and the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (i.e., the people who run the Oscars). Visitors are welcome to browse through the 100,000 items in the Academy's film archive or enjoy a movie in the opulent Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
