This southern Ontario city is steeped in history – its residents have made significant impact throughout the years: Alexander Graham Bell made the first long-distance phone call from here in 1876. Other notable former citizens of Brantford are hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and late comedian Phil Hartman. Brantford is a vibrant place to live. It is the home of 86,417 people and some of Ontario's best festivals and events, most notably, the Brantford International Villages Festival, Grand River Powwow, and the Paris Fall Fair. It is also home to some unique museums, multicultural art galleries, many hockey tournaments (largely due to the involvement of Wayne Gretzky's father, Walter) and some first-class shopping facilities. Brantford is located 48 kilometers (30 miles) south of Kitchener and 45 kilometers (28 miles) west of Hamilton. The city is also only about a one-hour drive to either the Niagara Region or Toronto, and is only three hours from Detroit. Brantford sits in the heart of the Grand River Country and along the Trans Canada Trail. Nature enthusiasts can also enjoy the many golf courses and hike/bike trails in the area. With a little bit for everyone and interesting history, Brantford is a wonderful place to be. See our 1 Job in Brantford, Ontario Websites for this CityGovernment:
