Brooklyn is one of the five boroughs that make up New York City, the most populous city in the United States and thirteenth-largest city in the world. Brooklyn is located in the westernmost part of Long Island, and is home to 47,063 residents.

With residents from virtually every nation and ethnic background, Brooklyn is like a microcosm of the entire world. This diversity is reflected in the borough's incredible array of neighborhoods, churches, restaurants, and arts and culture attractions. The borough is also the setting for Betty Smith's most famous work: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Top attractions include the world-renowned Brooklyn Museum of Art, historic Brooklyn Bridge, and Coney Island Amusement Park.

Despite how densely populated the area is, Brooklyn still offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Prospect Park covers 526 acres (213 hectares), and was created by the same designers as Manhatten's Central Park. Residents can also take advantage of 467 city parks, stroll along the historic Riegelman Boardwalk, see thousands of migratory birds at Jamaica Bay, or admire spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
