Bullhead City, Arizona

At the intersection of Arizona, California, and Nevada stands the oasis of Bullhead City. Its 33,769 residents take great pleasure in its accessible locale. Across the Colorado River, in Nevada, lies its sister-city, Laughlin, a casino and resort town. And 20 minutes to the south of city is Needles, California.

The area was originally settled by gold miners in the mid-1800s and grew into the short-lived town of Hardyville. Just east of the current location of Bullhead City, Hardyville is one of the many ghost towns found in the Black Mountain Range. The creation of Davis Dam on Lake Mohave, in 1942, rekindled interest in the area. Now the source of a medley of water sports, Lake Mohave and the Colorado River that feeds it act as the gateway to the Lake Mead Recreational Area, where the natural beauty of southern Nevada is at its finest.
