The city of Carrollton is located in western Georgia, 47 miles (76 kilometers) southwest of Atlanta. It is the county seat of Carroll County, and is home to 19,843 people.

Historic downtown Carrollton offers beautiful period architecture, along with a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants. Of particular interest is Adamson Square, which is named after the Congressman whose legislation created the eight-hour workday. The square is also home to Horton's Books and Gifts, the oldest bookstore in the state. For a great evening's entertainment, head to the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center, which hosts many theatrical, musical, and other performing arts events. The University of West Georgia campus is another local cultural hub, and offers everything from gallery shows and theater performances to exciting hometown sports games.

Carrollton offers abundant recreational opportunities, including fly-fishing on Snake Creek, several championship-quality golf courses, and beautiful city and state parks. John Tanner Park boasts the largest sand beach of any Georgian state park, and is a great place for swimming, boating, fishing, and camping. Another popular outdoor destination is the McIntosh Reserve, which offers camping, hiking, and insight into the area's native heritage.
