Chandler, Arizona

Chandler is located 22 miles (35 kilometers) southeast of Phoenix, and is part of the Metropolitan Phoenix area.

A popular vacation spot, Chandler offers fantastic resorts and great weather, with more than 330 sunny days a year! Downtown Chandler is a designated National Register Historic District, and features fine restaurants, chic shops, and eclectic art galleries. One of those is Vision Gallery, which represents the work of 200 national, state, and local artists. Another city center highlight is the Chandler Center for the Arts. This state-of-the-art facility has a total seating capacity of 1,550, and stages everything from large-scale popular concerts to intimate theatrical and musical productions. To brush up on your local history, pay a visit to the Chandler Museum and the Arizona Railway Museum. A delicious local diversion is the Fairytale Brownies Factory, which offers factory tours and mouthwatering brownie samples.

Golfers have been flocking to Chandler for 90 years, and it's not difficult to see why! Local championship level golf courses including the San Marcos, Springfield, and Ocotillo golf resorts, the Bear Creek Golf Club and the Lone Tree Golf Club.

Fans of other sports have plenty of reason to rejoice as well. Phoenix is one of the only eight cities in the US with professional teams in all four major sports, so great games are only a 30-minute drive away from Chandler. In football there are the Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Rattlers (Arena Football). In basketball, there are the Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Mercury (women's basketball). The Phoenix Coyotes hockey team and the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team complete the tally of professional teams in the area.

Phoenix and its surrounding area offer attractions for visitors of all ages and interests. Children will be delighted by the Arizona Science Center and the Phoenix Zoo. Arts and culture buffs can enjoy a trip to the Phoenix Art Museum or catch a show at one of Phoenix's many theaters. Those interested in native art and culture will find an internationally acclaimed collection at the Heard Museum, and 1,500 year-old Hohokam village ruins to explore at the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park. Nature lovers can view the world's largest collection of succulent plants at the Desert Botanical Gardens. Finally, those seeking fast-paced thrills are sure to find them at Fighter Combat International and the Firebird International Raceway.

Given its central location in Arizona, Chandler is a convenient starting point for exploring all the attractions in the state. Go east to visit Goldfield Ghost Town, abandoned mines, and scenic trails. South of Chandler lies the city of Tucson and prehistoric wonders like Casa Grande Ruins and Kartchner Caverns State Park. To the north, there's Sunset Crater Volcano and Meteor Crater, not to mention the Arizona Snowbowl ski area. Of course, even locals wouldn't miss a visit or few to one of the seven natural wonders of the world – Grand Canyon National Park!

With its fine local attractions and proximity to all the wonders of Arizona, Chandler makes a wonderful vacation spot or home!
