Chico, California

The city of Chico is located in Butte County, in California's Sacramento Valley. The valley is approximately 450 miles (724 kilometers) long, and is bounded by both the Coastal and the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. Chico lies in the northern portion of the valley, approximately 90 miles (144 kilometers) north of Sacramento and 176 miles (283 kilometers) north of San Francisco.

Chico's historic downtown district is the community's heart, and it's where you'll find the city's many shops, antique stores, coffee shops, and restaurants, as well as its theaters and museums.

When you want to enjoy California's great outdoors, head out to Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the United States. The park, which covers 3,618 acres (1,464 hectares), is made up of undeveloped canyon land and forests, and it has numerous trails for jogging, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking. And golfers take note: Bidwell Park also has a golf course!
