Coral Gables, popularly known as "The City Beautiful," is located near the shores of Biscayne Bay in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. Coral Gables is a planned community built by developer and real estate salesman George Merrick. It was built during Florida's 1920s real estate boom, and incorporated in 1925. The city takes its name from the design of its founder's home. To this day, most of the city's buildings of the Mediterranean Revival style, which was inspired by Italian and Spanish design. The city's architectural gems have helped to make Coral Gables a tourist destination. Among the more famous are the Coral Gables' Venetian Pool (the only swimming pool to be included in the National Register of Historic Places), the Biltmore Hotel, the Miracle Mile shopping district, and Coral Gables City Hall. Considering its beautiful setting and proximity to Miami, it's perhaps not surprising that Coral Gables is also one of the wealthiest communities in the area. Golfers will want to take note of both the Biltmore Golf Course and the Grenada Golf Course. And outdoor fun is also available nearby at Biscayne National Park and at John U. Lloyd Beach State Recreation Area. See our 0 Jobs in Coral Gables, Florida Websites for this CityGovernment:
