Located just behind the barrier islands of Mustang and Padre, Corpus Christi is the second most popular vacation destination in all of Texas. The gateway to the Padre Island National Seashore attracts a large number of visitors, who come to see the world's longest undeveloped barrier island, 130 miles (209 kilometers) worth, and the Isles of Texas.

Closer to the center of town, there's Ocean Drive, where young professionals tend to live, while families are drawn to the newly developed subdivisions on the south side of town. The Oso Bay area, just below Almeda, is another close-knit, family-centered neighborhood. And the adjacent Flour Bluff community attracts students and the bohemian crowd.
