Dallas-Fort Worth Metro

The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, which includes suburb towns and cities like Arlington, Euless, Irving, Grand Prairie, Hurst, Duncanville, and North Richland Hills, has a population of 5,161,544. Individually, Dallas has 1,188,580 and Fort Worth has 534,694 inhabitants. The cities also share their airport, the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Both cities have a lot to offer.

Let's start, alphabetically, with Dallas – we're not playing favorites. Like the Arts? Dallas has the largest urban Arts district in the US. It hosts the oldest free Shakespeare festival in the Southwest and the second oldest in the nation. It has the Dallas Opera. It has a symphony and wind symphony. It also has 160 museums, galleries and artistic attractions, including excellent collections of Asian and Spanish art and African American folk art. Sports fans will love the Cowboys, Mavericks, and Stars. Want to go to the great outdoors? Dallas has 50,000 acres of public parkland, six public golf courses, and 30 football fields. Want something different from the food at home? Easy! With more than 7,000 restaurants, Dallas has more restaurants per capita than New York City!

And let's briefly interject with a brief note about Arlington – which is nestled between Dallas and Fort Worth – as it is the home of the Texas Rangers.

Fort Worth is proud of its western heritage, but it doesn't limit itself to western culture. Its museums include the Fort Worth Museum of Science and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth as well as the Cattle Raisers Museum and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. You can also enjoy performances by the Texas Ballet Theater, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Jubilee Theatre, or Fort Worth Opera. And downtown in Sundance Square, you'll find nightclubs, restaurants, movies, and live theaters. And if you want something quiet, why not stroll through the Botanic Garden?

Got kids? Take them to the Dallas or Fort Worth zoos. Or how about Six Flags Over Texas or Six Flags Hurricane Harbor?

And there more than 60 lakes within a 100-mile (160 kilometer) radius of Dallas/Fort Worth. For a range of state parks and historic sites within 100 miles of the Metroplex, see Texas Parks and Wildlife. Texas is the Lone Star State, so why not head out with friends or the kids to one of the parks for a camping trip and see the stars? Since the coldest average temperature – which occurs in January – is 58F (14C), there's no excuse not to be outside. Well, 97F (36C) in July can be a bit much, but then you can go swimming or boating to cool off.

With all that you have available in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, your life will be fun whether you're inside or out.
