The borough of Danville, Pennsylvania, is situated in the Susquehanna River Valley, in the Bloomsburg-Berwick metropolitan area. The community was named in honor of one of its first settlers, Daniel Montgomery, and its history can be traced back to the 1770s. Danville's past is dominated by the iron mills that once drove the region's industry. In fact, during the 19th century, Danville supplied the rails for most of the country's railroads. It's a point of pride for the community, which celebrates this part of its past every July at the Iron Heritage Festival. The heart of Danville is its downtown historic district. Many of the houses and commercial buildings built during the region's 19th-century heyday remain, and provide the borough with its own architecturally unique charm. Danville's downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby state parks for outdoor fun include Milton State Park and Locust Lake State Park. Also nearby is the PPL Montour Preserve, which offers hiking, nature observation, boating, and fishing. See our 21 Jobs in Danville, Pennsylvania Websites for this CityGovernment:
