Of course, beautiful sights are everywhere in Daytona Beach. To escape the tourists, head to the many natural beach areas where dune habitats have been preserved and where a variety of turtle species thrive. The city has limited development in these areas, making them perfect for a quiet day under the sun. As well, just outside Daytona Beach is Daytona Beach Shores. The African American and Caribbean American Museum of the Arts showcase exhibits of African and Caribbean artists while the Howard Thurman Home and the Mary McLeod Bethune Home and Gravesite commemorate two of Daytona Beach's key civil rights leaders.
