Daytona Beach, Florida

Life really does travel in the fast lane in Daytona Beach. From the Daytona 500 to the wild parties in the nightclubs, this coastal jewel is a city on the move.

While the beach and the race are the common images of Daytona Beach, the city has much more to offer. For those who want to try their own hand at racing, check out Speed Park. You and a partner can hop in a drag-racing car and speed down the track at 80 miles (128 kilometers) per hour. Daytona USA is another attraction where you can get hands-on experience with racing. Try out your skills with some of the world's fastest cars at the video-simulated racetrack. You can also feel the adrenaline of the pit stop at the attraction's timed tire-changing competition.

Of course, beautiful sights are everywhere in Daytona Beach. To escape the tourists, head to the many natural beach areas where dune habitats have been preserved and where a variety of turtle species thrive. The city has limited development in these areas, making them perfect for a quiet day under the sun. As well, just outside Daytona Beach is Daytona Beach Shores. Here, you'll find the quiet fishing village of Ponce Inlet. Take a boat out to bring in your own catch or check out the village's restaurants for their fresh seafood selections.

The city also offers fine shopping and cultural attractions. For a day with the family, head to Ocean Walk Village, a colorful new shopping-and-entertainment complex with unique beach-themed stores and kid-friendly restaurants. For more serious culture, check out the city's many monuments to its African American heritage. The African American and Caribbean American Museum of the Arts showcase exhibits of African and Caribbean artists while the Howard Thurman Home and the Mary McLeod Bethune Home and Gravesite commemorate two of Daytona Beach's key civil rights leaders.

With the city recently having rejuvenated its downtown area, it's obvious that Daytona Beach is committed to providing its citizens with a high quality of life. So why not think about moving here? You'll never need to take a vacation again!
