Dearborn, Michigan

Located just nine miles (14.5 kilometers) from downtown Detroit, Dearborn is a suburban community with big city possibilities. There are opportunities for outdoor recreation and indoor activities for people of any lifestyle and background.

Dearborn has the distinction of being the birthplace of Henry Ford. Ford, an automotive pioneer, and founder of the Ford Motor Company, is a larger-than-life figure in American history. You can experience his spirit along with other moments in American history at The Henry Ford. This complex is comprised of five distinct attractions: Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, the Ford Rogue Factor Tour, Benson Ford Research Center, and the Henry Ford IMAX Theatre.

With firm ties to the automotive history, Dearborn is also proud to house the Automotive Hall of Fame. The Hall welcomes nearly 30,000 visitors a year, and recognizes achievement in the automotive and related industries. The city is also proud of its large and growing Arab American community, and is home to the Arab American National Museum.

Dearborn also has many recreational opportunities for you and your family. Ford Community & Performing Arts Center has an indoor aquatics area, art gallery, and theater. For outdoor adventures, the City of Dearborn has 431.9 acres (174.8 hectares) of public parkland within a total of 43 parks. And golf fanatics can play a few rounds at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course, which is considered by many historians to be the oldest public golf course in Michigan.

Its proximity to Detroit provides Dearborn residents the Motor City's cultural offerings at their fingertips. For indoor enlightenment, there is both the The Detroit Institute of the Arts and The Museum of African American History. Music lovers will not be disappointed with Detroit's diverse options, such as the annual Detroit International Jazz Festival, and the popular Detroit Symphony Orchestra, to name two. (And, of course, there is also professional sports!)

Dearborn possesses quaint small-town community, nestled next to big city convenience. With its rich history, affordable living, and limitless opportunities for recreation and leisure, Dearborn has a place for everyone!
