The city of Decatur is located in northern Alabama, 25 miles (40 kilometers) southwest of Huntsville. It is the county seat of Morgan County, and home to 53,929 residents. Decatur not only has historic buildings, but two distinct districts with Victorian homes from the early and mid-1800s. Another local landmark is the Old State Bank Museum, which has remained on its original site since 1833. In addition to a bank, the building has also served as a boarding house and saloon, and was even occupied by troupes during the Civil War. Today the bank has been beautifully restored, and offers daily guided tours to visitors. Want to bring a piece of history home with you?
