Denton, Texas

Denton is located on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, about 39 miles (63 kilometers) northwest of Dallas and 39 miles (63 kilometers) northeast of Fort Worth. It is the county seat of Denton County, and home to 80,537 residents.

First incorporated in 1866, Denton has a long and interesting history. You can learn about the city's heritage by visiting the Denton County Historical Museum, the Bayless-Selby House Museum, and the historic sites and modern businesses found in the city's downtown center. One of the highlights of downtown Denton is the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum, which houses a variety of exhibits regarding the people and history of Denton County.

Motor sports seems to be a local obsession, and you'll find thrilling races at the Denton Dragway and the Texas Motor Speedway, located just 14 miles (23 kilometers) south of the city.
