Derry, New Hampshire

The town of Derry is located in southern New Hampshire, 13 miles (21 kilometers) southeast of Manchester, 12 miles (19 kilometers) northeast of Nashua, and 42 miles (68 kilometers) northwest of Boston. It is part of Rockingham County, and home to 22,661 residents.

Derry has several outstanding historic attractions, including the Robert Frost Farm State Historic Site. Home of the celebrated poet from 1900–1911, visitors can see the simple farmhouse that Frost lived in, and walk along the winding trails that inspired some of his famous works. Also be sure to visit the Taylor Mill State Historic Site, where you can see the 1940s sawmill in action, and explore the 71-acre (29-hectare) Ballard State Forest which surrounds the mill. For more outdoor fun, take advantage of the 25-mile-long (40-kilometer-long) Rockingham Recreational Trail, which can be used for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

Older kids and teens will be able to unleash their creativity at the Kids Coop Theatre, which offers training in drama and the performing arts, and produces several shows a year.
