Surrounded by scenic lakes and provincial parks, Elk Point is at the heart of Alberta's beautiful Lakeland District.

With a population of 1,440, Elk Point has all the benefits of a small town: safe streets, neighborly greetings, an easygoing pace of life, and a strong community spirit. Tourists in the area often come to see the Fort George & Buckingham House Interpretive Centre for information on the region's historic fur trade and to visit the 32-foot statue of Peter Fidler, a famed Hudson's Bay surveyor.

A variety of stores, restaurants, and community services are all located within Elk Point. For golfers, the Elk Point Golf and Country Club has a nine-hole course just west of the city. The area's economic activity centers on farming, ranching, salt production and manufacturing. As well, with its location on a large reserve of oil fields, Elk Point is home to several oil and gas companies.
