Everett, Washington

Just 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of Seattle lies Everett, a city of 91,488, and the county seat of Snohomish County.

Many of Everett's attractions revolve around air or water. Everett is home to Boeing's 747 assembly plant, the largest building in the world by volume at 472 million cubic feet (13.3 million cubic meters). Tours of the plant are open to the public, and give visitors a chance to see Boeing 747s, 767s, 777s, and 787s assembled before their eyes. In 2005, the Future of Flight Aviation Center opened southwest of Everett. This 73,000-square-foot (6,782-square-meter) facility gives visitors a unique opportunity to explore the technology of commercial aviation. Attractions include a 28,000-square-foot (2,601-square-meter) aviation gallery featuring interactive exhibits and displays, a flight simulator, and the chance for visitors to digitally design and test their very own jet.

With nearly 50 miles (80 kilometers) of fresh and saltwater shorelines, Everett offers plenty of opportunities for aquatic recreational activities. Visitors can stroll along the Everett Waterfront and see the Port of Everett, the second largest marina on the West Coast. Nature lovers can join a whale-watching boat cruise, kayak, hike, or bike along the Snohomish River, pay a visit to Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, or explore the pristine habitats in Narbeck Wetlands Sanctuary. For a more leisurely approach to the outdoors, spend a summer afternoon on the sandy beaches of Jetty Island or throw a family picnic at Thornton A. Sullivan Park on Silver Lake.

For a taste of local arts and culture, try an Everett Symphony concert, or take in a performance at the Everett Performing Arts Center or the Historic Everett Theatre. Sports enthusiasts will not lack for a home team to cheer for, with the Everett AquaSox in minor league baseball, the Everett Hawks in minor league football, and the Everett Silvertips in the major junior hockey league.

Offering diverse attractions for air, land, and sea, Everett, Washington, is a wonderful destination to visit or stay.
