Incorporated in 1908, Fallon is the county seat of Churchill County, and is home to approximately 7,536 residents. Nearby is Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada, home to approximately 3,000 additional residents. Together, these make Fallon's population a little less than half of the entire population of Churchill County! Fallon, in northwestern Nevada, is located at an elevation a little lower than its high desert surroundings, so enjoys a temperate climate. And you can take advantage of the climate to get out to numerous community events. March through November is drag racing season, so spend a day with your friends or family at the Top Gun Raceway and feel the exhilaration of the NHRA, pro, amateur, and circuit drag races, featuring funny cars, pro modified, jet cars, nostalgia hot rods, and top fuel dragsters. Speaking of exhilaration and fun, you and the kids will love the many rodeos throughout the season, such as the Fallon Senior Pro Rodeo in September. This is a pro rodeo with all of the thrills and excitement of any PRSA event, offering rough stock, barrel racing, and roping events. In July, check out the Silver State International Rodeo, a youth rodeo featuring participants from across the country and Canada, competing in all the stock and barrel events of a pro rodeo. If you like the outdoors, then get out your mountain bike, and participate in the Rainbowridge Challenge in April, or participate in the 100-mile (161-kilometer) No Hill Hundred Century bike tour in and around Churchill County in October. You can also head out to nearby parks like Lahontan State Recreation Area or Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park. The Fallon area lies on the Pacific Flyway, and is home to hundreds of species of birds. In May, the Spring Wings Bird Festival celebrates feathered friends in and around Fallon, the Lahontan Valley Wetlands, and Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge Complex. This event includes workshops, field trips, tours, guest speakers, and a banquet. Over Labor Day weekend, take part in the annual Hearts O' Gold Cantaloupe Festival, where you can be entertained by concerts, get some fresh produce at the farmers' market, and enjoy great food, games, and continuous entertainment for you and your kids. Golfers can sign up for the annual Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament, to have fun for a good cause. Fallon is more than festivals and shows! Spend an evening testing your luck at one of the area casinos, such as Stockman's Casino. If you're interested in history, visit Churchill County Museum & Archives. Fallon is situated in the scenic Lahontan Valley in northern Nevada, approximately 63 miles (101 kilometers) east of Reno. About the same distance southwest is the capital, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe and Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park. From the beautiful climate, to the many activities, events, and attractions, Fallon has it all! Take advantage of the lifestyle you have always wanted, and enjoy your life and benefit from the Fallon experience. See our 3 Jobs in Fallon, Nevada Websites for this CityGovernment:
