Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Fort Belvoir is a US Army military installation in northeastern Virginia. The fort is situated nine miles (14 kilometers) southwest of Alexandria, 16 miles (26 kilometers) southwest of Arlington, and 16 miles (26 kilometers) southwest of Washington, DC. Fort Belvoir is in Fairfax County, and has a population of 7,176.

Fort Belvoir provides logistical and administrative support to the army, and is home to home to 90 different tenant and satellite organizations, as well as the DeWitt Healthcare Network.

A number of recreational facilities are available onsite, including swimming pools, two fitness centers, and a bowling center. You can sign up for a variety of classes at the Sosa Community Center, or relax with a game of pool and a night in front of the big screen TV. Outdoors, you can tee off at the golf club, enjoy hunting and archery, or launch a boat into the Potomac River from the fort's marina. Boaters and canoers can follow the river to Mt. Vernon (the home of George Washington) and DC, or spend some quiet time fishing and bird-watching in the natural areas around Fort Belvoir.
