The kids will love Germantown! And how could they not? This city has exciting, kid-friendly events such as the Eggstravaganza at Easter, which includes a petting zoo and an egg hunt; Oktoberfest in the fall, with dancing and arts and crafts; and the Journey to the North Pole in December, where you can visit with Santa and his elves. Then there is the five-day Germantown Charity Horse Show Show in June, where kids can dress up and see all types of horses. And year-round, the Germantown Center is open for such sports as wiffleball, swimming, baseball, and football, as well as other community events. Children are not the only ones who will have a great time in Germantown. Adults will take pleasure in a concert at the intimate Germantown Performing Arts Center or the Germantown Symphony Orchestra. Or in a dramatic performance at the Germantown Community Theatre. Adults and children alike will enjoy a taste of history at Fort Germantown, the civil war site, or delight in the pleasing antique shops of Old Germantown. Germantown is a wonderful place for the nature lover, whether they're big or small. In fact, forestry is such a priority in Germantown that it has received the National Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA Award 11 years in a row! The whole family can check out some of Germantown's finest scenery in the Wolf River Nature Area, which includes hiking trails, plant and animal displays, and butterfly gardens.
