The town of Gilbert, Arizona, is located in the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metropolitan area, and was the fastest-growing community in America during the 1990s.

Incorporated in 1920, and once known as the "Hay Capital of the World," Gilbert was at one time a small rural community and agricultural center. But things have changed quite a bit since the 1980s – yes, 1980s – and today, Gilbert is an affluent of suburb of neighboring Phoenix, with a population of well over 100,000.

But the town's rapid growth hasn't diminished the quality of life and the diversity of lifestyles it can accommodate. Gilbert's Hale Theatre provides a season of drama and musicals, and the Gilbert Fine Arts Association has helped to support the local arts and culture scene in the city since 1972.

And outdoor fun is also readily available in and around Gilbert. There are more than 25 golf courses within a 15-minute drive of the city, as well as parks, equestrian trails, and boating and fishing opportunities. Nearby Tonto National Forest is the fifth-largest forest in the United States, and also one of the most visited. Access is available all year, and the park's landscape is diverse, offering everything from deserts to snow-capped mountains.
