A Chicago suburb – it's located just over 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of the downtown core – the Village of Glen Ellyn is all about family and community. If you're trying to keep yourself (and the family) fit, spend some time exploring the Illinois Prairie Path – a 61-mile (98-kilometer) hiking/biking trail. If you're really looking to get back to nature, there's the more than 24,000-acre (59,306-hectare) Forest Preserve District of DuPage County where you can bird, camp, or fish to your heart's content. But the District doesn't just offer physical activity – its six facilities (such as the Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center and the Willowbrook Wildlife Center) offer a wide array of educational programs like maple sugaring, tracking mammals, and, my particular favorite, washing laundry the nineteenth century way! But you can't stay in the forest forever, and when you choose to emerge there's plenty to keep you busy around town. You can get to know your 26,999 neighbors at the Farmer's Market, which runs throughout in the summer, or the Halloween Parade in October. And culture hounds will enjoy the McAninch Arts Center of the College of DuPage and the annual Festival of the Arts. Glen Ellyn's delights will keep you so busy you'll forget it's a suburb of Chicago. For more information, see Chicago. See our 4 Jobs in Glen Ellyn, Illinois Websites for this CityGovernment:
