Green Bay is located in northeastern Wisconsin, and is the county seat of Brown County. Most people know the community as the home of the Packers, who have won more championships (12) than any other team in NFL history, and who are the only NFL team to win three straight titles (1929–31 and 1965–67)! (Yes, Green Bay is also home to the Blizzard of arena football, the Gamblers of the United States Hockey League, the Green Bay Storm of the Northeastern Baseball League, and several college teams.) The city, which is set along the Fox River and the waters of Lake Michigan's Green Bay, is 119 miles (192 kilometers) north of Milwaukee and 136 miles (219 kilometers) northeast of Madison. Green Bay enjoys a four season climate, with January highs averaging at 24F (-4C) and July highs at 81F (27C). The Green Bay area offers numerous opportunities to get outdoors, even when you're not watching Packers games at Lambeau Field. The area is home to 21 golf courses to try out, in addition to six driving ranges, disc golf facilities, and miniature golf courses. The 47-acre (19-hectare) Green Bay Botanical Garden, which includes gardens and natural areas, is open year-round. Or head out to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, a 700-acre (283-hectare) urban wildlife refuge, which is the city's largest park. And speaking of Bay Beach, don't miss Bay Beach Amusement Park along Green Bay, with 16 amusement rides, a wading pool, two concession stands, a restaurant, and more. And speaking of beaches, about 44 miles (71 kilometers) southeast, you'll find Point Beach State Forest, with six miles (10 kilometers) of Lake Michigan shoreline, dunes, camping areas, and more, and about 46 miles (74 kilometers) northeast you'll find Whitefish Dunes State Park, with a three-mile (five-kilometer) shoreline of sandy beaches and rocky bluffs. And when you want winter sports, the area is home to many cross-country skiing and snowmobiling trails to enjoy. Between June and October, head downtown to the Farmers' Market to shop for fresh produce, herbs, baking, crafts, and plants. And while you're downtown between June and August, don't miss the Summer in the Park concert series held Thursdays in Jackson Square. Other events and festivals include July's Tall Ships Challenge and Festival, August's ArtStreet, which showcases 200 visual artists from throughout the country, and June's International Bayfest, with fun and food for the whole family. After enjoying a day with the kids at the NEW Zoo or at Heritage Hill State Park, adults can head out for a night of performing arts offered by groups like the Green Bay Symphony or the Green Bay Community Theater, or to test their luck at the Oneida Casino. Green Bay and area also offer plenty of opportunities for dining and for shopping, whether your tastes run to antiques or the latest fashions. If you're looking for a sporty, family-friendly, four-season place to call home, look no further than Green Bay. See our 14 Jobs in Green Bay, Wisconsin Websites for this CityGovernment:
