Grimsby, Ontario is situated on Lake Ontario, 26 kilometers (16 miles) east of Hamilton, 29 kilometers (18 miles) west of St. Catharines, and 84 kilometers (52 miles) from Toronto.

Just 40 minutes' drive away from Grimsby, the spectacular Niagara Falls lie at the US – Canadian border, and have been a popular tourist destination for over a century. The Canadian Horseshoe Falls are approximately 52 meters (170 feet) high and 675 meters (2,200 feet) wide, and more than 168,000 cubic meters (six million cubic feet) of water flow past the crestline in a thunderous rush every minute. At 56 meters (180 feet), the American Falls are even higher, and its crestline is 328 meters (1,075 feet) wide. In addition to viewing this phenomenal natural wonder, visitors can Journey Behind the Falls, or ride up to the falls on a Maid of the Mist boat tour. In the evening, enjoy the spectacular sight of the American Falls being illuminated with a multitude of colored lights, as well as weekend fireworks preceded by a free concert performance. The City of Niagara offers a diverse range of attractions, ranging from the casino, to IMAX theaters and Ripley's Believe It or Not, to the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, Skylon Tower, and the International Zen Buddhist temple.

Grimsby lies between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, and sports and recreational opportunities abound in and around town. Boating, fishing, and water skiing are popular pastimes on Lake Ontario, and those who don't want to leave at the end of the day can camp out at Fifty-Point Conservation Area. Nature lovers will enjoy hiking along the Bruce Trail, which winds through the Niagara Escarpment, or participating in the annual Hawk Watch held at the Beamer Memorial Conservation Area. Golf enthusiasts will be happy to learn that there are several regulation courses within minutes of downtown Grimsby, and a host of other sports are offered through local teams and the Grimsby Community Centre. Grimsby also has its own Public Art Gallery and the Grimsby Museum. For a pleasant weekend outing, try taking a drive along the Wine Route and sampling the Niagara region's world-renowned wines.
