Henderson, Nevada

Saddled between the world-renown Las Vegas Strip and beautiful Lake Mead, Henderson has a lot to brag about. Since being named the fastest-growing city in America in 1997, and with a population of 175,381 and climbing, Henderson is the second largest city in Nevada and is still one of the fastest-growing communities in North America. Despite this growth, the city has also been named in the top-50 safest cities and top-50 kid-friendly cities in the United States and boasts one of the lowest property value rates in Nevada.

Henderson has more than 40 parks and 11 miles (17 kilometers) of trails, and the city plans to extend its trail system to become the largest in Nevada. And Henderson is also the only city in southern Nevada with its own dedicated police, fire, and utility services.

Lake Mead and 500 miles (805 kilometers) of shoreline are just one mile (1.6 kilometers) east of Henderson. The largest manmade lake in the world, Lake Mead is a popular place to go for anything from jet skiing to fishing to camping. Less than an hour north of Henderson is Mt. Charleston, which offers skiing from November to April in Lee Canyon. The warm dry summers and mild winters provide ample opportunity and motivation to check out all the natural beauties available.
