Indian Head, Saskatchewan

The town of Indian Head, known as the Qu'Appelle Valley's "agricultural center," lies 70 kilometers (44 miles) east of Regina in southeastern Saskatchewan. It's also the home of it's own interesting landmark – a five-meter (18-foot), 1,588-kilogram (3,500-pound) statue of an Indian head, produced for the town in 1985.

First settled in the 1880s, Indian Head was incorporated in 1902. Today, the town offers residents a low cost of living and a relaxed lifestyle. And as might be expected of a town at the center of one of the province's largest trading areas, Indian Head offers residents a range of community and social services. Schooling is available from kindergarten through to high school, and Indian Head has all of the recreational amenities that one can expect of a rural Saskatchewan town – and then some.

Indian Head's Craft Tea Elevator Restaurant is a converted grain elevator that includes a restaurant, gallery, and gift shop. The town is also home to the Rural Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, dedicated to rural athletes who've gone on to the "make it in the big leagues."

The PFRA Shelterbelt Centre is also located nearby. The center includes a tree nursery and arboretum, as well as nature trail and picnic areas. And Indian Head's nine-hole golf and country club has been called a "prairie gem."

And if these things aren't enough, two provincial parks are a short drive away for camping and hiking: Echo Valley Provincial Park and Katepwa Point Provincial Park.
