The city of Issaquah, Washington, is located in King County, just 16 miles (26 kilometers) east of Seattle. The city is bounded on the north side by Lake Sammamish, and by the Cougar, Squak, and Tiger Mountains on its remaining three sides. Collectively, these mountains are known as the Issaquah Alps, and offer abundant hiking and recreational opportunities for visitors and residents alike. Tiger Mountain is a premier site for paragliding and hang-gliding and offers excellent conditions year-round. Stargazing and amateur astronomy are popular pastimes atop Tiger Mountain and Squak Mountain. The Cougar Mountain Zoo is located on Cougar Mountain's northern slope, and offers visitors a look at endangered species from around the world, as well as the cougars that give the zoo its name. Issaquah City retains much of the history and charm of its small-town roots. One major attraction is Gilman Village, a collection of some of the oldest buildings in the Northwest, which have been converted to a cultural and shopping center. People can also visit the Saturday farmers' market, ride the Issaquah Valley Trolley, or take part in one of the "History Hikes" organized by the Issaquah Historical Society. The biggest event of the year is the award-winning Issaquah Salmon Days Festival, which celebrates the return of the salmon on the first weekend in October. This free festival attracts more than 150,000 visitors and numerous artists and vendors from the area. There are four entertainment stages, a fencing invitational, a golf tournament, and a "Field of Fun" for children. Visitors can view the salmon up-close at the Salmon Hatchery, then follow the fishes' example by participating in a 5K or 10K run. With abundant natural beauty and small-city charm, Issaquah is certain to delight. See our 0 Jobs in Issaquah, Washington Websites for this CityGovernment:
