Logansport, Indiana

The city of Logansport is nestled in a picturesque valley at the junction of the Wabash and the Eel rivers, approximately 39 miles (63 kilometers) northeast of Lafayette, in northern Indiana.

The community, which takes its name from a Shawnee Chief, Captain Logan, was first settled in 1826. The first steam engine drove through the area in 1855, and for a long time, Logansport was known as a railroad town and transportation hub. Things have changed a lot since then, but the era is still celebrated every year at the city's Iron Horse Festival.

Another popular community festival is the Light Up Logansport Parade, held during the festive season in December.

Logansport's Performing Arts Council ensures that city residents have access to a range of performances throughout the year. The Civic Players of Logansport, based out of the city's McHale Performing Arts Center, perform plays and musicals. There are more than 300 acres (121 hectares) of trails and parkland in and around the city. The city's France Park has miles of trails that can be used year 'round for hiking, biking, or cross-country skiing. The park also has a scenic waterfall, a quiet lake for swimming and fishing, as well as camping facilities. Several state parks are also an easy drive away, including Prophetstown, Ouabache, and Tippecanoe River.
