The Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll! When in such a place – go out to a downtown club and listen to the music – whatever beat rocks you. Where? Head to the famous Beale Street Entertainment District, a three-block section in the heart of downtown, with more than 30 nightclubs, restaurants, and retail shops. Music on Beale Street includes traditional blues, R&B, jazz, and rock. Blues fans won't want to miss B.B. King's Blues Club.

Music not really your thing? Doesn't matter! Take in a show at the Circuit Playhouse, Playhouse on the Square, or Orpheum Theatre. Want something even quieter than that? Memphis has something for you, too: check out the Memphis Botanic Garden or the Art Museum at the University of Memphis.

Want to tire the kids out before you head out on the town? Spend the day with the kids and the critters at the Memphis Zoo. Take the younger set to the Children's Museum of Memphis. Spin them silly at the Libertyland amusement park. Get outside at Mud Island River Park. Or take them on a tour of a part of rock and roll history: Graceland. Want to educate and inspire them? Bring them to the National Civil Rights Museum. Or, of course, you could take them to a Memphis Grizzlies NBA game. And for you golfers, you can golf at one of the seven courses operated by the city's Division of Park Services (or a private course). You can go cycling. Go to the wilds at a nearby park and camp, hike, boat, or fish.

The weather's not too hot or too cold – January averages are above freezing at 41F (5C), and July averages are 81F (27C).
