Home to the Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, in recent years, has capitalized on its industrial and ethnic roots to create a trendy vibe. Its neighborhoods are revitalized; the summer months are filled with festivals; and the city's diverse cultures give Milwaukee its own unique flavor. The vibrant communities that were established by Irish, German, Polish, Italian, and African-American immigrants have left a legacy of distinct neighborhoods. Today, people have rediscovered the older homes of historic Brady Street, Third Ward, Walker's Point, and East Town. The Brady Street area has become a thriving commercial district, with unique shops and cafés lining the main thoroughfare. Third Ward is an old industrial area that has been revitalized with swanky lofts, art galleries, theaters, antique shops, and trendy restaurants. Walker's Point, on the other hand, is Milwaukee's oldest neighborhood. Its grand stately houses are the center of Milwaukee's rich Latin community. East Town is a key part of Milwaukee's commercial heart. It houses the city's theater district, ballet company, and symphony orchestra, as well as the hottest nightclubs and some of the best shopping around. Set against a backdrop that includes Milwaukee's three rivers and Lake Michigan, the city is a scenic delight. With its non-stop festivals, summer in Milwaukee is one big, long party. There are festivals celebrating almost every ethnic community. The city also strongly supports its lesbian and gay community, a fact that is reflected in the size of its annual PrideFest. During Bastille Days, downtown Milwaukee is transformed into a miniature Paris. With sidewalk cafés, a large outdoor market, and the Storm the Bastille fun run, you might think you're on the Left Bank. The city's biggest festival of the year, however, is Summerfest, an 11-day music extravaganza on the waterfront that showcases performances by some of the biggest names in music alongside those of up-and-coming bands. Not only does Milwaukee capitalize on its past, it is also expanding for the future. In recent years, the city has built a new convention center, a new major league ballpark for the Brewers, and an addition to its art museum that has gained world-renown. With its authenticity and accessibility, life is good in Milwaukee. See our 50 Jobs in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Websites for this CityGovernment:
