Missoula, Montana

Missoula is located along the Clark Fork River in the Rocky Mountains of western Montana, near the state's border with Idaho. The community is the seat of Missoula County and is the second-largest city in Montana. Missoula is located 113 miles (182 kilometers) west of Helena and 199 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Spokane, Washington.

Missoula is itself known as the Garden City for its abundant trees and lush landscape. The city is also surrounded by thousands of acres of spectacular outdoors to enjoy in all four seasons, no matter what your recreational activity or sport. Surrounding forests and recreational areas include the Lolo National Forest, Clearwater National Forest, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, Flathead National Forest, and the Bob Marshall Wilderness – to name just five! Golfers can enjoy numerous area courses, and when the snow falls, head to nearby ski areas: the Montana Snowbowl, Lost Trail Powder Mountain, Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area, and Blacktail Mountain.

And speaking of seasons, Missoula enjoys a mild climate, protected from extreme cold in the winter and extreme heat in the summer, with January and December highs average at 32F (0C) and July and August highs average at 82F (28C).

Missoula has many community events to enjoy, such as the Farmers' Market held Saturday mornings from mid-May to mid-October, the Western Montana Fair and Rodeo in August, GermanFest in September, and the Fall Family Fest in late October.

In town, when you want a dose of culture, there's a variety of things you can choose from. Spend a day wandering the Missoula Art Museum or the Montana Museum of Art & Culture, or head out to one of many arts and cultural events, such as performances by the Missoula Symphony Association, the String Orchestra of the Rockies, or the Garden City Ballet. And if you have kids, they'll enjoy a show or a performing arts class at the Missoula Children's Theatre.

There's so much for you and your family to enjoy in and around Missoula, you should get here as soon as possible so you can start.
