Mount Laurel, New Jersey

The township of Mount Laurel is located in western New Jersey, Just 17 miles (27 kilometers) east of Philadelphia-Camden. It is part of Burlington County, and home to 30,270 residents.

Mount Laurel has a long and rich history that involves the Lenni-Lenape Indians, early farmers and settlers, the American Revolution, the Underground Railroad, and more! To learn more, visit some of the city's numerous historic sites, such the c. 1866 Farmers Hall, the city's first school, and the 1698 Friends Meeting House, which is the oldest meeting house in the country. The nearby James Mason Plantation, now the community of Masonville, is another must-see attraction. The plantation was very large, and the site features an iron factory, railroad depot, grist mill, and old general store.

Mount Laurel has experienced a population surge in recent decades, but maintains plenty of green spaces and a high standard of living. The local Parks and Recreation Department offers sports programs for all ages. Laurel Acres Park is the city's most popular outdoor site, and offers a fishing lake, sports fields, summer concerts, and much more. For some hands-on fun, take the whole family to the PAWS Farm Nature Center. Located on the restored Darnell family farmstead, the center features a farmhouse, dairy barn, and a yard containing domestic and wild animals. There's also a butterfly garden and nature trail that are sure to delight visitors.
