Natchez, Mississippi

Natchez is located along the east bank of the Mississippi River, in Adams County Mississippi. It's located 116 miles (187 kilometers) southwest of the state capital, Jackson, and 90 miles (145 kilometers) north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Natchez has more antebellum homes than any other city in the United States. Several of these homes are open year-round, and many others can be explored during the popular spring and fall pilgrimages. In addition to these historic homes, Natchez's downtown business area has many late 19th century buildings, which now house antique and specialty shops and restaurants.

The area's semi-tropical area means that you have no excuse for not getting out and enjoying the outdoors. For example, just 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of the city you'll find Natchez State Park. The park offers trails, camping, hunting, and fishing – the largest bass ever caught in Mississippi history (a largemouth weighing 18.15 pounds, or 8.23 kilograms) was caught in Natchez Lake in 1992. Or about 73 miles (117 kilometers) southeast is Lake Lincoln State Park, where you can enjoy activities like camping, boating, fishing, and swimming.
