As one of the 13 original colonies that made up the US, New Jersey has a rich history. You get all the benefits of being close to the city along with open space and beautiful countryside. The northern half of the state is a suburb of New York City and the southern half is mostly a suburb of Philadelphia. But despite being one of the smallest and most densely populated states in the US, there are 38 state parks, 11 state forests, and more than 600 miles (965 kilometers) of trails. You could actually hike, bike, and canoe your way through New Jersey if you wanted to – New Jersey doesn't have the nickname of the Garden State for nothing. On top of being so close to big-city excitement, from most places in New Jersey you are you are less than an hour from the beach (but in New Jersey we call it "the shore"). The New Jersey shore is made up of 127 miles (204 kilometers) of white-sand beaches interspersed with scenic lighthouses and fun boardwalks full of amusements, games, and carnival food. You can even try your luck in Atlantic City (home of the annual Miss American pageant). Plus New Jersey is home to the three-time Stanley Cup champs, the New Jersey Devils (hockey), the Nets (basketball), and, despite their claimed affiliations, both the New York Jets and New York Giants (football) play here. New Jersey is a great place to live – and the state taxes are lower than New York or Pennsylvania. See our 215 Jobs in New Jersey Websites for this StateGovernment:
