In the sun or in the snow, there's always something fun to do in North Bay! The lush forests, clean water, and fresh air keep residents healthy, while the many activities keep them happy.

Nature is but a stone's throw away thanks to the wide range of trails in and around the city. Varying in difficulty, there are trails that are perfect for a relaxing stroll or a challenging hike. Of course, if you're walking around North Bay, you'll eventually end up at the waterfront. With its Heritage Carousel and Mini-Train, the area is a favorite local hangout and a great spot to kick back and relax. It is also the site of the annual North Bay Heritage Festival and the Grant Forest Products Air Show.

But the waterfront is only one of 43 beaches in the city, so North Bay's 52,771 residents can always find something to do in the summer – those who aren't hiking or biking are often swimming or fishing. Come winter, there's even more activity to be had. Laurentian Ski Hill offers skiing, snowboarding, and snow-tubing. Snowmobilers can explore the region's 3,300 kilometers (2,050 miles) of trails, as can cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts. And fishing fanatics can be found out on the lakes in their ice-fishing shacks (hopefully heated ones rented from local hotels).
