Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Oshkosh is located in east central Wisconsin, 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Green Bay, 87 miles (140 kilometers) northeast of Madison, and 87 miles (140 kilometers) north of Milwaukee. The city is the county seat of Winnebago County, and home to 62,916 residents.

Oshkosh is located in the heart of the Fox River Valley, on the western shore of Lake Winnebago. The largest lake in the state, Lake Winnebago covers 137,000 acres (55,442 hectares) and provides an angler's paradise for fishing enthusiasts, and a great recreation area for visitors and residents. Golf is also a popular outdoor pursuit, and the city offers several courses to challenge players of all levels.

To learn more about the history of the region, pay a visit to the Oshkosh Public Museum, which houses more than 250,000 historic artifacts and documents. Another wonderful attraction is the Air Venture Museum, which features 250 vintage airplanes, and allows kids some interactive, hands-on fun inside Hangar X. Oshkosh is also home to the Military Veterans Museum, which tells the story of the brave men and women who have served in the army and navy through collected photos, stories, and memorabilia.

For a day of family fun, head to the Menominee Park and Zoo. This 110-acre (45-hectare) site features a playground, mini-train, walking trails, and a small zoo with animals native to the state. Another major attraction in Oshkosh is the Paine Art Center and Gardens, which features a Tudor Revival Mansion containing period furnishings, sculpture, and paintings, all surrounded by beautiful botanical gardens.

Looking for a great evening's entertainment? Then head to the Grand Opera House. Built in 1883, this heritage building was restored in the 1980s, and currently hosts a wide range of performing arts events each year. Another major performance venue is the outdoor Leach Amphitheater, home of the annual Waterfest music festival. Other special events include the Brews 'n Blues Festival in July, and the Winnebago County Fair in August.

Offering outdoor recreation, great music, and exciting attractions, Oshkosh is a wonderful city to call home!

P.S. And yes, Oshkosh is home to OshKosh B'Gosh, Inc. kids' clothes!
