Paducah, Kentucky

The city of Paducah is located in western Kentucky, 72 miles (116 kilometers) northwest of Hopkinsville, 69 miles (111 kilometers) southeast of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and 135 miles (217 kilometers) northwest of Nashville. It is the seat of McCracken County, and is home to 26,307 people.

The city is situated near the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, and was named after the Padouca Indian tribe. Paducah is also known as "Quilt City, USA" and home to the Museum of the American Quilter's Society. The River Heritage Museum is housed in the city's oldest antebellum building, and contains exhibits on river habitats, boats, hydroelectricity, and more. Other heritage attractions include the Paducah Railroad Museum, Alben Barkley Museum, Tilghman Heritage Center, and Market House Museum.

Many of the above-mentioned museums are part of Paducah's Lowertown Arts District, which also contains Yeiser Art Center, Maiden Alley Cinema, and many fine galleries. The Paducah Symphony Orchestra will delight your ears with its classical and pops series, while the Carson Center offers a full and eclectic schedule of concerts, plays, dance, and other performances.

You are also within easy reach of Columbus-Belmont State Park, Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Metropolis Lake State Nature Preserve, and the spectacular Land Between the Lakes national recreation area.
