Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey

The township of Parsippany-Troy Hills is located in northern New Jersey, 18 miles (29 kilometers) northwest of Newark and 28 miles (45 kilometers) northwest of New York City. It is part of Morris County, and is home to 50,649 people.

The name "Parsippany" comes from the Lenape Native American word parsippanong, which means "the place where rivers come together." In 2006, Parsippany-Troy Hills ranked #17 in Money magazine's list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the US.

Notable historic attractions include the 1870 Condit House and the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms. Craftsman Farms is the former home of Gustave Stickley, a furniture designer, manufacturer, and leader of the Arts and Crafts movement in America. Visitors can tour Stickley's main house, which was designed as a "club house" for craftsmen and students, and has a kitchen that can produce a meal for 100 people. The house also contains fine examples of Stickley's furniture. You can also see the farm's workshops, stables, cottages, and tour the grounds.

Parsippany boasts 31 parks, with a combined area of more than 800 acres (324 hectares). At 360 acres (146 hectares), Knoll Park is the largest park in town, and features volleyball courts, picnic sites, and children's play areas. The park is located inside the Knoll Golf Facility, which boasts two spectacular 18-hole golf courses. Lake Parsippany is another popular outdoor destination, and offers three sandy beaches, fishing, boating, and a variety of sports facilities.
