The only PGA of American owned and run golf facility open to the public, the club is the ideal place for amateurs learn how to swing like the pros. Especially when you make use of its nine different types of bunkers and state-of-the-art video lab for analyzing your performance.

Situated north of Miami, great golf isn't the only sport this charming city has going for it. There's also baseball. The city houses the training camp for the New York Mets and its own team, the St. Lucie Mets. By far, though, the region is best known for its amazing fishing. Head over to the backwaters of the St. Lucie River to catch channel bass, snook, ladyfish, jack crevalle, and trout.

Just outside the city, the Savannas Preserve is a wildlife sanctuary that protects Florida's last remaining freshwater lagoon system. You'll also find a huge variety of bird species and beautiful trails for hikes.

The city itself was originally established as a retirement community, but it's now a city on the move. Its population has grown from 330 in 1970 to 73,000 in 1996 and today it has now reached 88,769. People moving there find not only the beautiful beaches and natural heritage, they are also greeted by low housing costs and good schools and universities. No wonder this city, known as the "gem of the Treasure Coast," has recently been named one of the fastest-growing cities in the US.
