Red Bank, New Jersey

Red Bank is a borough in eastern New Jersey, located six miles (10 kilometers) northwest of Long Branch, 41 miles (66 kilometers) northeast of Trenton, and 46 road miles (74 kilometers) south of New York City. It is part of Monmouth County, and has a population of 11,844. Red Bank is on the Navesink River, and was named for the red clay banks along the water.

In its early days, Red Bank was a busy port village that transported produce and seafood to New York. Riverside Gardens Park and Marine Park both offer excellent views of the Navesink River, along with picnic sites and summer concerts. Residents learn to sail with the Monmouth Boat Club or discover the joys of winter boating with the North Shrewsbury Ice Boat & Yacht Club.

Red Bank is home to numerous historic sites, such as the 1870s Train Station, the 1928 Molly Pitcher Inn, and 1926 Count Basie Theater. Downtown Red Bank is full of charming shops and great restaurants, while the Antique Center of Red Bank offers 100 dealers and countless treasures.
